	LATEST NEWS 05.26.08 Memorial Day / Heritage Day Celebration (sponsored by SERCOM) Monday May 26th, 2008 Part I: Memorial Day Service 11am-12 Noon at the Government Cemetery Site. Solemn observance with: Lower Richland Veterans Formation. St. John Baptist Church Hopkins, SC. Part II: Heritage Day Celebration 12 Noon-4pm at The Harriet Barber House Hopkins, SC. Featuring Abatsu African Drummer and Dancers and Jazz Artists Uniq' Blend of Charlotte, NC. Also featuring guided tours of the Harriet Barber House, Food Vendors, Arts and Crafts, Carnival Rides, and Vendors. 05.01.08 - Richland County Conservation Commission granted $25,000 to the Harriet Barber House to provide funds for roofing, new siding, front porch repair, painting, and other structural work. The house will be used for community events and meeting. 12.15.07 - Christmas Tour of Lower Richland Historic sites 11.30.07 - Patient’s Choice Award Banquet. The Patient’s Choice Award is an opportunity for our community to recognize Physicians/Dentists for their exemplary patient care and commitment toward community service. This award ceremony is scheduled for Friday, November 30, 2007 at 7:00PM at the Brookland Baptist Banquet and Conference Center, West Columbia. The categories to be awarded are: a practicing Physician/Dentist, Resident Physician/Dentist in training, and Legacy/Retired Physician/Dentist. Nominees will be judged based on the following five criteria; sensitivity to the needs of patients, accessibility and availability , communication skills, quality time with patients and involvement in community activities. The Patient’s Choice Award is sponsored by Mount Nebo Baptist, Saint John Baptist, and Tri-City Visionaries in Lower Richland County. Proceeds from this event will be used to help construct a non-profit Holistic Wellness Center, which will provide health, social and spiritual related services for the rural communities of Lower Richland County. 		11.10.09 Marie Barber Adams joined Frank Peterman and Tracy Swartout on the weekly radio show "Conversations with Al McFarlane." This weekly live radio broadcast airs on 90.3 RM in Minneapolis and 106.7 FM in St. Paul. The Nov. 11th show focused on the partnership between the Harriet Barber House and the Congaree National Park where Tracy Swartout works as park superintendant. Frank Peterman is the director of public and political awareness of the eastern forest program for the Wilderness Society. more
