11.10.09 Marie Barber Adams joined Frank Peterman and Tracy Swartout on the weekly radio show "Conversations with Al McFarlane." This weekly live radio broadcast airs on 90.3 RM in Minneapolis and 106.7 FM in St. Paul. The Nov. 11th show focused on the partnership between the Harriet Barber House and the Congaree National Park where Tracy Swartout works as park superintendant. Frank Peterman is the director of public and political awareness of the eastern forest program for the Wilderness Society.

11.00.09 The Hopkins High School Alumni Foundation held its monthly meeting with a seafood feast at the Harriet Barber House.

10.26.09 Harriet Barber House hosted the Richland County Conservation Commission for its monthly meeting and invited other supporters and guests for a reception there. Dr. Warner Montgomery of the Columbia Star newspaper, Bernice Scott retired Richland County Council member, and Mr. Johnny Martin, contractor for the restoration work, were all honored at the reception.

10.00.09 Seventy first grade students from Burton Pack Elementary in Columbia came to visit the house museum for storytelling, hayrides, wagon rides and demonstrations.

08.00.09 The Girls of Power Network Conference brought 127 young ladies along with parents and volunteers to tour the museum house.

07.00.09 Congaree National Park Camp Stories fifth grade students and park rangers learned about the Harriet Barber House. The students created personal videos to tell the stories about the Congaree National Park and its cultural history. The project was under the direction of ranger Corinne Fenner.

07.00.09 Mosley Family Reunion members visit.

06.00.09 First annual Expressive Arts Camp for area students included local art teachers and storytellers. The concept for the camp was created by Josie Bright Stone of Blythewood, SC.

05.00.09 Memorial Day at the Harriet Barber House was the site of the annual Heritage Celebration. Visitors came from New York, Connecticut, Michigan, Florida, Georgia and cities across South Carolina.

03.00.09 Mrs. J’s African American Family Institute from Columbia, Missouri came to visit and tour the house museum.
